The last time I saw Canadian rockers Three Days Grace was at Download Festival last year (I also interviewed them, check it out here). They played the third stage and after watching them perform, I was amazed at how much energy they put into their set. The band put everything into it and they sounded amazing. It was such a good show. I was hoping tonight’s set at the O2 Forum would be on par – Three Days Grace delivered.
The band opened with the techno flavoured ‘I Am Machine’, which was shortly followed by the epic ‘Just Like You’. This is one of their songs that has to be heard live. It sounds epic on record but you have to hear THAT riff live, it’s so so good!
Three Days Grace mixed the set up this evening. The set had a lot of material from the band’s latest album “Human” but also included some of their older tunes. Fans got what they came for and you could tell they were loving every moment. One of my highlights from the set was ‘Pain’. Matt Walst got the crowd to jump during the breakdown of the song which was pretty cool.
Other highlights included Neil Sanderson’s mind blowing drum solo, the classic ‘Never Too Late’ and set closer ‘Riot’. What really stood out was frontman Matt Walst. Vocally, he sounded great. He and the band put on a great show for everyone in attendance. You can tell it’s been a good show when the crowd are chanting your band name! Overall a very fun set and enjoyable first gig on 2016 (for me), hopefully we’ll see the band back in the UK over festival season.
