LIVE: Shinedown – 27/10/12 – O2 Academy, Brixton

Shinedown come to London tonight mid-way through their biggest european tour to date. On previous visits to London, the Jacksonville four piece have graced venues such as Camden’s Electric Ballroom and the Kentish Town Forum. Tonight they play to the legendary Brixton Academy.

Coming off the back of their 2012 album Amaryllis which peaked at 4 on the US Billboard 200, they play to a usual mix of excited hard rock fans. Starting with the title track from their 2008 release The Sound of Madness, Shinedown kick straight into full force with Brent Smith displaying his, as always, world class vocals.

Throughout the night Smith addresses the crowd on several occasions to express gratitude and introduce themselves. Tonight the band are flawless and come accompanied with a whole host of pyrotechnics, something we haven’t seen in previous productions here in the UK. Shinedown, despite being one of the worlds best hard rock bands, stay humble as ever.

The band play through a hit ridden set including “If You Only Knew”, “Devour”, “Second Chance”, “45”, before commencing a four song encore, ending with the first single off the latest album, Bully.
