LIVE: Paramore – 04/09/13 – The Roundhouse, Camden

It’s night four of the iTunes Festival, and we’re definitely in for a treat. Usually Franklin, Tennessee’s Paramore are playing to tens of thousands of people in arenas all over the world, but tonight the band played the historic Roundhouse in Camden, a much more intimate setting with a capacity of around three thousand.

Opening the set with ‘Grow Up’, the band burst into a tight, non-stop energetic set. Belting out tracks old and new, the crowd were always moving and singing along to every word. Newer tracks ‘Now’ and ‘Ain’t It Fun’ got an amazing response. Highlights included the band’s cover of Fleetwood Mac classic ‘Landslide’ leading into ‘In The Mourning’, ‘Misery Business’ – the band’s first ever single and set closer ‘Still In To You’. As soon as Taylor hit the first chord of ‘Misery Business’ the Roundhouse went off – It was something that had to be seen! Hayley Williams even pulled a fan on stage to sing the second half of the track.

Williams definitely carried the show – there was plenty of fan interaction which was a nice touch. I was a little disappointed that bassist Jeremy Davis and guitarist Taylor York didn’t get involved, but they made up for it with their flawless playing throughout the set. Jeremy’s bass solo in ‘Ain’t It Fun’ was very impressive!

Overall a very fun and sweaty gig. I look forward to seeing Paramore smash Wembley Arena at the end of the month.
