LIVE: Don Broco – 28/11/14 – The Black Heart, Camden

I was lucky enough to catch Lonely The Brave and Don Broco play as part of the Dr. Martens #STANDFORSOMETHING Tour last Friday. What made the gig so special was that it was at The Black Heart in Camden – a tiny pub with a maximum capacity of 150.

Lonely The Brave are great live. The band recently released ‘The Day’s War’ – their debut album. The album received positive feedback from fans and industry alike – this was evident tonight as the whole room was singing every word. What I love about Lonely The Brave is that they sound exactly like they do on record when playing live. The highlight from the set was ‘The Blue, The Green’ – the band’s latest single.

Don Broco were on on next. Having seen the band play many times before, they always put on a flawless set – tonight was no different. Don Broco haven’t played live since their sets at Reading and Leeds earlier this year. They’ve been in the studio recording the follow up to their brilliant debut album ‘Priorities’. You could tell the band were really enjoying themselves on stage – they were putting on a fast paced and very enjoyable set. They opened with with an acoustic rendition of ‘Yeah Man’ which was received very well. Highlights included ‘Fancy Dress’, the band’s latest track ‘Money Power Fame’ and the Broco classic ‘Thug Workout’Again like Lonely The Brave, Don Broco sound exactly like they do on record. Overall a refreshing set – I look forward to the band’s headline run (with We Are The In Crowd) and second album early next year.
