I got to The Forum just in time for the mighty Young Guns. They were the surprise act for this tour and played a short but full-on set. The band get straight into it and play their latest single ‘I Want Out’. It’s sounds epic! Continuing with the new material theme we’re treated to ‘Speaking In Tongues’ – again this sounds great live. The band’s new album comes out in June and is titled “Ones And Zeros”. Not only is this the bands third album, it will be their first release on a major label (Virgin EMI – Universal Music). If the album is anything like tonight’s set we’re in for something special. To close, the band play fan favourite ‘Bones’ – a fantastic start the evening!
The main support on this tour were Poughkeepsie’s We Are The In Crowd. Don’t get me wrong, I love this band – they’re great at what they do. I just felt that they didn’t deserve to be main support on this tour. It should of been WATIC, Young Guns and then Don Broco. The band didn’t get as much of a response compared to Young Guns and it seemed that people were standing around waiting for the headliners. Regardless, they played a strong set and they sounded tight. Highlight tracks included ‘Rumor Mill’ and ‘Lights Out’.
It’s now time for headliners Don Broco. Over the years I’ve seen the band go from strength to strength. I remember seeing them at Club 85 in Hitchin playing to approximately 20 people, then seeing them go onto the NME/Radio 1 Stage at the Reading Festival, and fast forward 6 months to tonight – headlining a sold out Kentish Town Forum in London. Every time I’ve seen them play live, they’ve always been on top of their game and tonight was no different. Opening with ‘Money Power Fame’ you can’t help but feel the energy in the room. The band get The Forum moving! We’re given a load of tracks from their debut album “Priorities” as well as a preview of what’s on the soon to be released second album. New tracks ‘Fire’ and ‘Superlove’ sound huge – shout out to Mark Kozuch (their sound guy). It wouldn’t be a Broco show without classic tune ‘Thug Workout’ – Dani from Bury tomorrow also got involved. The band closed with ‘You Wanna Know’. A killer set from an awesome band.
