LIVE: AxeWound – 06/10/12 – The Underworld, Camden

Being a huge Cancer Bats and Bullet For My Valentine fan, I was really excited to find out about the AxeWound project. Having spoken to AxeWound drummer Jason Bowld earlier in the year, I couldn’t wait to see the band live.

4  months have passed since my chat with Jason and the band are headlining the historic Underworld in Camden. I couldn’t believe I was about to witness Matt Tuck and Liam Cormier play the Underworld. Not only is it my favourite gig venue, it was probably going to be  the first and last time I would see these two guys play such a intimate space.

The band have just released their debut album Vultues – a massive sounding album that sounds even better live. The bands set comprised of tracks from their debut. This included “Post Apocalyptic Party”, “Cold” and my favourite “Exochrist”. The band also played a Pantera cover. As the set progressed, the songs got heavier and the riffs got dirtier. What really impressed me was how well Matt’s voice complements Liam’s and vice versa. Overall a great show – I look forward to what AxeWound have in the pipeline.
