Hadouken! Interview

Festival season is in full swing (already!) and we’re excited for any collection of live music. It’s not quite Glastonbury, but GuilFest is one Amplified is looking forward to with its huge range of acts from the last 40 years of music. One of those acts is Hadouken! I had a brief chat with lead singer James Smith earlier today…

I asked James how he would describe his band to somebody who’s never heard them before… loud, energetic, aggressive and fun were some of the adjectives used. If you’re not sure what that means exactly, he cited their influences as Underworld, The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers and Leftfield.

The band’s second album (“For the Masses”) came out at the start of this year and James said their third will probably be out next year some time as work on it has already begun.

Hadouken! wont just be playing GuilFest this summer – they’re also featured at Reading and Leeds (among others). James said that all gigs are equally important to them and they’re happy that even the small crowds are great.

Our favourite festival season question to bands is ‘what’s your dream line-up?’ So I asked James who he’d like to share a main stage with. He said that it’d probably be bands he would want to see live but have split up… just Nirvana and The Beatles to name a couple!
