Fast-rising Brighton quartet Fighting Fiction release their eponymous self-titled debut album and new single ‘Turning Rebellion into Money’ through Xtra Mile Recordings on27th February 2012.

An infectious punk rock record, ‘Fighting Fiction’ is full of politically charged articulate lyrics, powerful driving rhythms and catchy refrains. Featuring the single ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll is Dead and its Corpse is for Sale’ – which received strong support from fan Radio 1’s Mike Davies – all ten tracks pack a powerful punch, hitting you the head as well as the heart. Recorded and produced by friend and highly credited producer Mark Williams, (Oceansize, Million Dead, Yourcodenameis:milo, Biffy Clyro & Enter Shikari) ‘Fighting Fiction’ perfectly captures the band’s honesty, integrity and knack for writing a great pop punk song.

With a DIY approach, their keen touring ethic has seen them play alongside Frank Turner, This Town Needs Guns, The Riot Before, The Xcerts, Laura Marling and Crazy Arm; as well as festival appearances at The Lock Up Stage at Reading and Leeds Festival, The Isle of Man TT, The Isle of Wight and 2000Trees.

With support coming in thick and fast from all corners of the industry the band are set for a fantastic 2012. Ones to watch!

And no, this isn’t spin-off vehicle for Britain’s Got Talent contestant ‘DJ Talent’. Somebody had already made the pun “Decks Factor” but I suppose this isn’t going to be a spin-off vehicle for Britain’s Got Talent host Declan Donnelly either.

Simon Cowell released a statement earlier today stating, “DJ’s are the new rock stars, it feels like the right time to make this show.” So we are getting an X-Factor style show to find the next big thing in DJing and Cowell is teaming with Jada Pinkett Smith (Mrs Fresh Prince) to make it.

The only other detail Cowell has revealed so far (on his Twitter feed) is that he won’t be a judge on the show.

Lostprophets have announced the release of their brand new album ‘Weapons’ and their first headline UK tour in two years. The new album is released on April 2nd and is followed by a 14 date tour of the UK and Ireland culminating with a show at London’s O2 Academy Brixton.

It’s been two years since the Welsh sextet released their fourth studio album, ‘The Betrayed’ (January 2010). Two very hectic years. After triumphant tours across the UK and Europe on which they played in front of tens of thousands of people, Kerrang! Magazine bestowed the prestigious ‘Classic Songwriters Award’ on the band, and it was time for Lostprophets to remind the world just how deserved that honour was.

Before the writing and recording process for fifth album, ‘Weapons’, could begin, 2010 needed to be closed out with a series of big experiences. As has become the norm, Lostprophets wowed the massive Reading and Leeds main stage crowd. They then went on to steal the show at Belfast’s Belsonic Festival and about a month later, were asked to participate in the opening ceremony for the Ryder Cup at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.

Immediately following the Ryder Cup festivities, the band decamped to a private home in Norfolk for an initial round of writing. After Norfolk, Lostprophets moved back to the more familiar turf of Los Angeles to work on developing their existing ideas and creating even more monstrous ones. Studio work began in February 2011 at LA’s NRG Studios. Now, as 2012 kicks off, the band is ready to share their work with the world.

Lostprophets is a band whose members have known each other since their school days in Pontypridd, South Wales, a group that were friends long before they became band mates and colleagues. Through their four previous albums – 2000’s ‘fakesoundofprogress’, 2004’s ‘Start Something’, 2006’s number one ‘Liberation Transmission’ and last year’s ‘The Betrayed’ – the sextet have risen from the clubs of England to the stages of Wembley and other impressive arenas. Almost by stealth, the band have grown, both in songwriting and success, stacking up a dozen or so top 40 singles and selling over 2 million albums worldwide. They have become one of the UK’s biggest rock bands without compromise or flirting with musical fashions, instead choosing to stick with what they believe in and constantly striving to do better, more creatively challenging things.

Lostprophets will be coming to the following venues this spring:

April

Mon 16 Belfast Ulster Hall
Thu 19 Liverpool O2 Academy 1

Statement from the band below:

“Sup peeps,
As some of you have figured out (using exemplary spot-the-difference skills) the news that we have to announce is that we have a new bass player joining the ranks!
We have had some massive developments behind the scenes in recent weeks and as a result are going to have an incredibly busy and exciting year of touring and a debut album release ahead of us. Luke has decided that the upcoming schedule isn’t something he is able to commit to and would like to spend time pursuing other interests.
He will always be a huge part of team Broco and continue to be one of our best friends in the world. He’ll be involved behind the scenes and sure you’ll catch a glimpse of his cheeky grin down at a show or two.
Looking towards the future we are all really excited! 2012 is going to be BIG and sure you will all help us set the tone by making Tom (@DonDozza for you twitter users) feel welcome.
All our love
Donny B”

James’ music gained recent success due to the use of a sample from her 1962 song ”Something’s Got a Hold on Me”. The sample appeared in both Avicii’s “Levels” and Flo Rida’s “Good Feeling” – both songs topped charts worldwide in the last couple of months.

Almost immediately off the back of releasing EP Passive Aggressive, one of the most talked about debut’s of 2011, Marmozets have wasted no time and churned out another mind blowing EP titledVexed. The band returned to the studio for a second time with James Kenosha (Pulled Apart By Horses, The James Cleaver Quintet) at the production helm and appear to have produced an astonishingly accomplished record. Given the short gap between the recordings, and the noticeable difference in musicianship and technical ability, it would seem that Marmozets progress at a rate around 200% faster than your average band.

If you thought Passive Aggressive packed a punch, Vexed is going to hit you like a wrecking ball. The six tracks (plus interlude) take the ideas we saw in the debut and expand them three dimensionally, covering a broader depth of sound. Tracks like opener One Man Wolf Pack and title track Vexed really showcase guitarists Sam and Jack’s technical ability to write licks that would cut through titanium, whereas Realise Real Eyes Real Lies boasts a hook that’d reel in a killer whale. The abrasive edge of the math/hardcore is always balanced with melody and the EP closes with the epic and beautifully dark Arrive Alive.

The past year has been a great one for Marmozets, with appearences at Hevy Festival and Londons Freeze Festival, a BBC Radio 1 session for Daniel P Carter recorded at Maida Vale Studios and the great reception that Passive Aggressive received on its release, they couldn’t really ask for more but 2012 is looking like it’s only going to get better. With an upcoming UK tour with Hyro Da Hero as well as two dates with Four Year Strong and the release of Vexed in the pipeline, it’s going to be hard to ignore the irresistible force that is Marmozets.
