Amplified Spotlight: Cytota

Birmingham based Cytota are quickly becoming one of UK metal’s most talked-about bands. Not afraid of diverging from their roots, Cytota are inspired by songwriters and a scene that is truly global. They are keen to reiterate that technical metal is at the core of what the band do as much as Birmingham is at the centre of who they are.

The last five years have witnessed Cytota consistently writing and touring, honing their sound and live performance. Early high-profile supports with While She Sleeps and Rise To Remain have helped spread the Cytota name, as well as the release of their debut EP ‘The Prosecutor’. 2013 also saw the band take their live show to new heights, with slots at Brixton Academy supporting Finch, Download Festival, Warped Tour UK and Road to Warped with Chiodos.

Now signed to Raw Power Management, Cytota are confirming their place as one of the UK’s most exciting new metal acts. With 2014 opening up before them, they prepare to release their first single since last year’s ‘Generation Scared’, and begin writing their debut album, set for release later this year/early next year. Out on tour with Memphis My Fire in April, Cytota look set to tear up a defining year in this bands history.

Cytota are Joby Fitzgerald (vocals), Harry Jennings (drums and backing vocals), Youssef Ashraf (guitar), Ryan Hamilton (guitar and backing vocals) and Oliver Pike (bass).
