ALBUM: SOiL – “Whole”

SOiL - WholeSOiL have always been a favourite of mine. But after frontman Ryan McCombs left in 2001, the band’s sound and vibe just didn’t connect with me. Fast Forward 12 years, frontman McCombs is back and the band have just unleashed “Whole” – a collection of 11 hard-hitting, riff-heavy tracks that you can’t help but bang your head to.

Stand out tracks are ‘My Time’ and album closer ‘One Love’. These tracks show SOiL at their best – old school Ryan McCombs vocals really make the tracks stand out. The rest of the band play their part in making this album the best SOiL have ever done. Bassist Tim King and guitarist Adam Zadel are amazing on “Whole”. The intricate riffs and hooks they pull off give the album a very unique sound – a sound that can only be attributed to SOiL. Another stand out moment is when Staind guitarist Mike Mishok plays on ‘Wake Up’ (it’s pretty sick!).

Overall it’s a great album and a must have for fans of the heavy genre.
