ALBUM: Natives – “Indoor War”

natives-indoorwarAfter being pushed back month after month, Natives debut album “Indoor War” is finally here. It’s safe to say that the record was worth the wait.

Released in 2012 and 2013, we were given a taste of the band’s (formerly Not Advised) new direction and sound with ‘Big Plans’ and ‘This Island’. This pop-rock sound is magnified in “Indoor War” with it’s huge anthemic hooks and massive sounding riffs which echo right through the release. These are particularly evident in ‘War Inside Of Me’ and ‘Cant Say No’ – the first single to be taken from the album. This track is quickly becoming one of my favourites.

Another stand out track is ‘Ghost’. What grabbed my attention was Jim Thomas’ dynamic vocal range. It’s something that needs to be admired – It sets “Indoor War” apart from all the other pop-rock albums out there. Overall  a very exciting and enjoyable pop-rock record with solid musicianship throughout.
