ALBUM: Hey Vanity – “Blindfolds”

blindfoldsArtChelmsford rockers Hey Vanity have had an interesting past 18 months. They’ve been on the road honing their live show, having toured with the likes of Don Broco, Mallory Knox and most recently Straight Lines. In between all the gigs, the guys have been busy recording. Last month, the band released “Blindfolds”, their debut mini-album which is sure to build their ever growing fan base and get their unique rock/pop-punk sound out there.

Opener ‘Before I’m Old’ is a great track that introduces the listener to the band’s sound. Marc Halls’ Mike Duce-esque vocals gives the band’s sound an extra dimension. As the album progresses the songs get better, more energetic and riffier (‘What Have We Done’ and ‘Some May Say’).

One of my favourites is the title track. It’s one of the shorter songs on the album, weighing in at 2 minutes and 45 seconds, but the echoing clean guitar sounds so epic. This track emphasises how musically talented the band are – vocals, bass, guitar and drums combine effortlessly to create an almost euphoric sound – amazing!

Other ‘must listen’ tracks include ‘Old at Heart’ and ‘Fun & Games’. Get this “Blindfolds” NOW. It’s so good!
