Essex rockers, Shdows Chasing Ghosts played main support to York’s Glamour Of The Kill. After seeing Shadows play Butserfest back in September of last year, I was interested to see if their sound had changed and whether they were going to bring any new songs to the table. To be honest, there was nothing wrong with the guys set, they were tight – musically, and put a lot of energy and passion into their 30 minute slot. Shadows front man, Trey Tremain, kept the Hull crowd pumped and going throughout – inciting numerous circle pits and interacting plenty with the fans. My favourite songs of the set were “Sunlight” and “Home”. If you have the chance to go see Shadows live, please do, they are an exciting up-and-coming band on the UK scene. Expect big things from them in the future.
Next up were Glamour Of The Kill. Having listened to “The Summoning”, I was expecting big things from tonights set and boy, they didn’t disappoint. You could tell the band were tour-starved and looking forward to their 27 date tour. There was a slight technical hiccup towards the end of the set, but Davey and co, still delivered a tight and polished set. The guys played a mix of songs from their self titled EP and debut album, “The Summoning”. My favourites from the set were “A Hope in Hell” and “Feeling Alive”. What I really like about GOTK, is that Davey’s voice compliments the heavy metalcore sound really well. Usually you’ll find that a deeper more aggressive voice is needed to accompany that style of music, but that certainly is not the case here. Following the set, the guys stuck around to meet the fans and sign autographs. This was a nice touch as many bands do not bother to do this. Overall GOTK, put on a great show and if you have the chance, go see them live. While you’re at it, pick up the “The Summoning”, it’s an awesome debut CD.
